Dursley United Charities operate in the Dursley, Cam, Stinchcombe and Uley area to help local people in need. The Charities own land and properties in the area, the rents from which are used to provide financial help for those who need it.
Russ Holloway has represented Stinchcombe Parish Council on the Charities’ board for many years but has finally decided to retire.
The post is not onerous, involving little more than attendance at one board meeting per year and providing a brief financial report to the Parish Council at the Annual Parish Assembly. I, being the Returning Officer at the above election, report that the person whose name appears on the attached pdf is duly elected as Parish Councillor without a contest for Stinchcombe.
As the number of candidates is equal to or less than the number of seats available, they are duly elected without contest.
There will NOT be an election taking place on Thursday, 6 May 2021 for this Parish/Town Council.
An important part of minimising and managing any future spread of Covid-19 is the speed at which people can be tested and isolation measures put in place, should an outbreak occur.
The mobile testing unit is available at many locations across the county.

In discussion with all the wardens, we have taken the decision to move all Church services online at present.
Our church will remain open for private prayer.

The Parish Council has begun a survey of trees in the parish which may have been infected by this fungal disease, but this is a very big undertaking and as much help from residents as possible would be greatly appreciated. It would help greatly if while you’re out walking, you would keep a lookout for any signs of disease in mature ash trees in and around the village (See https://stinchcombepc.co.uk/mitigating-ash-dieback-in-stinchcombe/ for more details and information on how to recognise it.) and let the Parish Council know (clerk@stinchcombepc.co.uk) if you spot any trees you think are cause for concern. It is important to know where there are affected trees, both because of the potential danger of their falling and also because it may be possible to obtain funding for their replacement. Enjoy your walks and thank you for keeping a lookout.
The B4060 is due to be closed between Stancombe and North Nibley for bridge and retaining wall repair from 20th July to 7th August. It will be necessary to close the road completely to through traffic because of the excavation and size of machinery that will be used.
Chris Snellock has recently stepped down from the Parish Council because of pressure of work and the Council would like to thank him for his valuable contribution over the last four years.
There is therefore now a vacancy for a new Councillor and this is an ideal opportunity for anyone who would like to take more part in village life – and perhaps a good way for someone new to Stinchcombe to become involved.
The response to Covid 19 in the village has been amazing with 35 people signing up to “do their bit” and it’s very encouraging to know that there is still such a community spirit here – is our next Parish Councillor in that group?
