A GOOD WEDDING CAKE

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs love
  • lb good looks
  • 1 lb blindness of faults
  • 1 lb good humour
  • 1 oz of modesty
  • 1 pt rippling laughter
  • 1 1b butter of youth
  • 1 lb sweet temper
  • 1 lb self-forgetfulness
  • 1 lb pounded wit
  • 2 tablespoons of sweet argument
  • 1 wine glass of common sense

Method

  1. Put the love, good looks and sweet temper into a well-furnished house.
  2. Beat the butter of youth to a cream and mix well together with the blindness of faults.
  3. Stir the pounded wit and good humour into the sweet argument, then add the rippling laughter and common sense.
  4. Work the whole together until everything is well mixed and bake gently for ever.
