The Diamond Jubilee in Stinchcombe

Comments Off on The Diamond Jubilee in Stinchcombe

Sunday 3rd June 2012

STOP PRESS:  Due to the weather the venue for the picnic, games, etc is now Stinchcombe Village Hall.

From 11:30am, in the Church Field (the field opposite the church) Village Hall, there is a bring-your-own picnic (and chair!). There will be a coconut shy, test your strength machine, historical display and a teddy bear zip wire! During the afternoon a street organ will be playing, and a variety of games for all ages will be avaliable too for those who want to have a go. Bring your picnic and a little change to have a go on the games – but most importantly please bring yourself, and anyone you can bring along with you. The more the merrier! In the event of rain the picnic will be moved to the Village Hall. Everyone is very welcome to attend – residents, friends and families.
A special Jubilee themed Evensong will be held in Church from 6:00pm for anyone who wishes to attend.

Monday 4th June 2012

Tea and cake is being served inside the church between 2:30pm and 4:30pm. Drop in any time for a cup of tea, slice of cake and a friendly chat. The historical display will again be on show.
From 7:30pm the Village Hall is hosting a Hog Roast 50s Party. Dressing up is optional, but please do come along and feel some of the mood from the original coronation. Tickets for the hog roast cost £6 – no need to buy in advance – and there will also be a bar. A film of the original Coronation will play in the background and we just hope that it will be a really enjoyable party. It will be followed by the lighting of the beacon on Stinchcombe Hill.
Again – both of these events are certainly open to everyone. There’s no need to book anything in advance – please just turn up!
