Support Your Village Hall!

Support Your Village Hall, or …

The Village Hall is thriving but, because of the small number of Trustees, is also vulnerable.  The AGM was held on Tuesday, 19 November and disappointingly only one resident showed up.  The annual report and financial statements will be available on the Village Hall Website.

The Hall is held on trust ‘for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of Stinchcombe …and its immediate vicinity …’ The Management Committee can be composed of 12 people and at the moment consists of 8.

The Management Committee maintain a continuous programme to update the hall and keep it as an attractive venue for events.  Both regular sessions and private bookings have increased which keep the hall viable.

This year a small marquee was donated which gives additional space.  A plot of land has been purchased behind the village hall which should provide about 30 additional parking spaces. It will be accessed from the original car park by a ramp.  Unfortunately, due to the wet weather, work to develop it has been delayed.  This will be an overflow car park and will have a lockable barrier at the top of the ramp.

The Committee organised several events for the local community: a Christmas Craft Fayre, 2 Quiz nights, a Plant Sale and a highly successful Summer Spree with a Steel Band and Hog Roast.  Some of the money will be put towards a defibrillator.  There is still insufficient support to organise a village show.

It would be good to see the Hall used for more communal events by local residents.  However, the Committee are all volunteers and more support is urgently needed to help with planning, organising and staffing the occasional events.

Future dates for 2020  are:  Quiz night Friday 20th March, Plant Sale Saturday 16th May, Summer Spree Saturday 8th August, Quiz night Friday 23 October and Craft Fayre Saturday 14th November.
