COULD YOU REPRESENT THE PARISH COUNCIL ON BERKELEY SSG?
Berkeley Site Stakeholders Group meets quarterly to liaise with a variety of local groups who are interested in or affected by developments at the site in order to keep them informed listen to their views.
Until recently, ex-Parish Councillor Jack Sant has attended the meetings as the Council’s representative but has had to step down due to ill health.
The SSG is an independent group which was set up by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) in 2005. The group consists of town and parish councillors, community groups and nuclear regulators, who meet quarterly with Magnox and NDA representatives to discuss the decommissioning work being undertaken at the former Berkeley power station and nuclear laboratories.
The Council’s representative does not have to be a member of the Council and this vacancy presents an ideal opportunity for someone who would like to become more involved in the community but is unable to take on a bigger commitment. Could you spare a couple of hours every three months to keep track of what’s happening? If so, contact Marian Shaw (542604 or firstname.lastname@example.org) or Nola Bradley (544611 or email@example.com).
