Hi! For those who have not yet met me, I am your new vicar in Stinchcombe, Revd Fiona Crocker. It is a great privilege to take up this role from my previous one as ‘trainee-vicar’ in Derbyshire. What does it mean to be your new vicar? It means I pray for our community at Stinchcombe and that I can be a listening confidante, one who can draw alongside as we journey through the ups and downs of life. At this Christmas time, it is particularly my joy to offer a moment to pause in this busy, commercial time and encourage us to ponder on what really happened around 2000 years ago…..can it be relevant to us in the 21st century? Jesus born in a manger… a light shining in the darkness… claiming to be Immanuel… God with us. What can it mean for you?
It is a real pleasure to provide the opportunity for us to draw together as the community of Stinchcombe this Christmas season, whether for Carols by Candlelight, the Crib service or the First Mass of Christmas. I hope in these times we are saying ‘you matter’, and that we continue to be a community that acts out the Christmas story, ‘God with us’, by being His loving hands and feet to one another. I wonder how we can do this even more?
I look forward to meeting many new faces over the Christmas time and hope to see you at the festivities.
Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year, from Fiona, Vicar of Cam with Stinchcombe
