Twenty Five years ago….At least…My father used to pay the tax bill by putting a cheque in the post on the last possible date so that it was postmarked at that date. HMRC would then have to accept that he had paid the TAX by the due date ….It’s good the see Her Majesties Government has decided to revert to this system after all these years.

The reason they passed the 100,00 test mark was that they put 27,497 in “the post” and 12,872 were sent to “satellite sites”

Obviously this means that from now on we can all once again put our cheques in the post with a second class stamp.
